DUSTYGREENDUTY Chair — Delta 2000 (Wilkhahn, 1968)
Original office chair from the 1970s, designed by the Delta-Design collective for Wilkhahn.
Model from the 2000 series — a true Mid Century Modern classic.
The new upholstery was crafted from an old military cotton tarp — hand-stitched and reconstructed in the spirit of boro, sashiko, and patchwork: traditional Japanese repair techniques celebrating material longevity and imperfection.
Each stitch, fade, and patch tells a story of renewal, giving the chair a new context and singular character.
A DUSTYGREENDUTY stencil placed on the backrest serves as both a maker’s mark and a symbol of reinterpretation — merging classic European design with modern craft and the aesthetics of military reconstruction.
The chair bridges history and function — a meeting point of European design heritage and the philosophy of upcycling and respect for material — becoming both a utilitarian object and a statement piece of DUSTYGREENDUTY aesthetics.
